South Hams Town & Parish Council Update

The Government has asked us to explore a new way of working across local councils. We’d like your views and help to encourage as many as people as possible to shape what happens next.

What’s important? What would you like to see change? Your views will help us build a future local government that works for everyone.

Visit our website for more information about what is being proposed, answers to frequently asked questions and a short survey. Please encourage residents, businesses and local community groups in your area to take part in our survey – and we’d appreciate it if you could reshare our social media posts too.

We are also organising a series of resident engagement events across the South Hams to meet with communities and answer questions face-to-face. We will send you details soon on dates, locations and how to book.

Devon County Council has also announced that it is holding a number of engagement events in the District:

  • Royal Avenue Gardens, Dartmouth – Tuesday 9 September, 8.30 – 10.30am
  • Dates and locations are still to be confirmed for Ivybridge, Kingsbridge and Totnes

Reminder: A briefing has been arranged for Town and Parish councils next Wednesday 17.30 – 18.30. An email has been sent to Clerks with the details.

Messages for residents, businesses and local community groups:

  • Your voice matters—this is your opportunity to influence the future of the South Hams.
  • Everyone with a connection to the South Hams is being asked to have their say so our final proposals reflect the needs and aspirations of people living and working in the area.
  • Take part in the short survey on our website where you can also find more information and Frequently Asked Questions: www.southhams.gov.uk/local-government-reorganisation
  • A series of engagement events in the South Hams will also be taking place. Details on how you can get involved will be available soon.

Thank you
